My Employee Life is not just about goals, work logs and keeping everyone up-to-date. You can also use My Employee Life to conduct experiments, maintain a central suggestion box, and develop an internal knowledge base.
We get it, these days, there seems to be a system for everything, which means the number of systems needed to log into is forever increasing.
At My Employee Life, we are trying to overcome this problem by making ours more and more useful all of the time – like the Swiss Army Knife of employee systems. Here are three ways to make even more use of My Employee Life:
#1. Record the details of experiments
If your company is not conducting regular experiments, it should be. The only way we humans tend to really learn is by doing, and making mistakes. However, there is no point making heaps of mistakes if one doesn’t retain the knowledge for the future. So, why not record the details of experiments using My Employee Life?
Here’s how to do it.
- First, think of what you are experimenting about
This usually involves collecting any exploratory information you might need about the topic. For example, if you are looking to find ways to improve a process, you might start searching the internet for approaches that other companies use. Then, you can design your experiment. You can do this as an individual or as a team. It is also a good idea to set up different experiments to learn from at the same time.
- Second, set up the experiment as a goal
Once you know what you are trying to do, set up the experiment as a goal, and share it with anyone you need to share it with. Give it a name, what you are trying to achieve, enter the important dates, and then the key results that are important. Think of the key results as the evidence you are looking for (reduced average call back time by 3 minutes) etc.
- Lastly, tag and share
Once the experiment is over, ensure it is properly ‘tagged’, and ensure it is shared with anyone who might need to know about it. You might even do a presentation to others about it. By using My Employee Life to track experiments, the knowledge is never lost.
#2. Suggestion Box
Many companies have suggestion boxes, but how often are they actually used?
Some companies use their employee surveys for this purpose, but let’s face it, the best ideas often come when the survey isn’t active. So why not use My Employee Life as the suggestion box?
Our team does this. Every time there is an idea, someone simply logs it with #idea and we can discuss it at the appropriate time. This way, nothing gets forgotten. Of course, the best ideas are those that also come with suggestions of a solution as a starting point, so remember to do that if possible.
#3. Knowledge Centre
I read somewhere recently that the average employee spends around 40% of their time creating things that are probably already known or already done. I didn’t write down the source of the article unfortunately, but even if it is only half of that, it is still a lot of time.
So why not use My Employee Life to log all important information that might need to be referred to later? Apart from hashtags, creating and sharing posts is a really simple way to do this.
